Basic description

Kinesio Taping or "taping" is a method that uses special adhesive tapes to provide support to muscles or associated tissues. It was developed by Japanese chiropractor Dr. Kenzo Kase.

Tape is an elastic adhesive tape that does not contain any medicinal component, but purely medical acrylic adhesive. It is waterproof, wearable all day long and since it is elastic, it does not limit the range of motion. The colour of the tape has no specific meaning. There is no physical or chemical difference between the individual colours, e.g. beige is used for minimum visibility. The choice of colours is therefore a matter of client's individual preference.

Using simple strips or other special shapes, as well as the direction and strength at the time of application, the tape can be applied in hundreds of ways at various locations on the body and in many diagnoses. It has the ability, for example, to relieve muscle tension in the neck or lower back, swelling of the sprained ankle, to correct stability in the knee or to help treat the tennis elbow.
